Barbershop Co is a renowned chain of barbershops with a presence in major cities across New Zealand. The company has built a reputation for providing high-quality haircuts and grooming services. However, one of their persistent challenges has been effectively managing long wait times, particularly during peak hours. To address these issues, Barbershop Co decided to develop a Virtual Queueing App to help reduce wait times and streamline the customer experience.
One of the key features of the Barbershop Co Virtual Queueing App is its ability to provide customers with real-time visibility into wait times at nearby barbershops. This feature empowers customers to make informed decisions about when and where to get their haircuts, ensuring a seamless and efficient grooming experience.
After conducting interviews and observing customer behavior in various barbershops. It became clear that uncertainty around wait times was a significant pain point. Customers often faced frustration when they arrived at a barbershop only to find a long wait. Thus, the goal was to provide transparency and control over their time.
For each listed barbershop, the app provides real-time information about the current wait times. This includes the number of customers already in the queue and the estimated time until the next available barber is ready to serve the next customer. This data is continuously updated, ensuring customers have the latest information at their fingertips.
Viewing Wait Times for Barbershops in the Area
Barbershop Co has revolutionized the way customers join the queue for their desired barbershop, offering a dual approach through the mobile app and in-store kiosk. These options cater to the preferences and convenience of a diverse customer base.
The dual approach was chosen to accommodate the different preferences and technological comfort levels of Barbershop Co’s customers. The mobile app option provides convenience for tech-savvy users who prefer to join the queue remotely, allowing them to manage their time efficiently. On the other hand, the in-store kiosk caters to customers who either do not have access to the mobile app or prefer a more traditional method. This inclusive design ensures all customers can benefit from reduced wait times, regardless of their preferred method of interaction.
Via the Mobile App:
Customers can virtually join the queue using the Barbershop Co Virtual Queueing App from the comfort of their own homes, workplaces, or any nearby location. With a simple tap, customers can join the queue for their chosen barbershop. The app provides an estimated wait time and continuously updates their queue position.
Via the In-Store Kiosk:
For customers who prefer the traditional in-store experience or may not have access to the mobile app, Barbershop Co offers the convenience of joining the queue using an in-store kiosk.
Joining the Queue
In addition to the Virtual Queueing App, we designed a subscription feature that allows Barbershop Co customers to subscribe to certain barbershop products, such as razors, shave cream, hair products, and more. This feature aims to enhance customer loyalty and provide convenience for recurring purchases.
The subscription feature was designed to cater to customers’ desire for a convenient and consistent supply of their favorite grooming products. By integrating this feature into the app, we aimed to create a seamless shopping experience that aligns with the customers' regular grooming routines. The option to choose delivery intervals provides flexibility, ensuring the service meets individual needs. Additionally, integrating reminders and updates about upcoming deliveries helps maintain customer engagement and satisfaction.
Customers can browse a curated list of popular barbershop products within the app. They have the option to subscribe to regular deliveries of these products at intervals of their choosing (e.g., monthly, quarterly). This ensures they never run out of essential grooming supplies. The app also sends reminders and updates about upcoming deliveries, providing a hassle-free shopping experience.
